About Us
The Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program was established in 1990 to link universities, governments and industry in order to address major industrial and scientific challenges in a collaborative manner. The close interaction between researchers and users of research is a key feature of the program, along with industry contribution to CRC education programs to produce industry ready graduates.
The Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science & Research administers the CRC Program, and the Australian Poultry CRC was established on 1 July 2003.
The Poultry CRC has four main programs:
- Program 1 Enhanced quality and productivity using novel approaches to digestive physiology and metabolism of poultry
- Program 2 Sustainable poultry health through discovery, development and application of emerging biotechnology
- Program 3 Improved management of poultry welfare and the environmental impact of poultry production
- Program 4 Education and Training
These Programs are designed to deliver the following key outcomes:
- Sustainable production of chicken meat without reliance on antibiotics
- Development and commercialisation of new poultry health products and improved diagnostic tools
