The Impact of Poultry Production on the Environment

Developing products that can add value to the waste generated by chicken meat farms.

Dust, odour and litter management pose health and safety issues for both workers and birds. Air leaving poultry production facilities can carry large amounts of particulates containing microorganisms and volatile compounds.

In Sub-Program 3B, strategies are being developed to add value to waste litter, and guidelines established on air quality in livestock buildings.
