Welfare and Environment

Program manager:

Improved management of poultry welfare and the environmental impact of poultry production.

Ecological sustainability and social acceptability are as necessary for sustainable livestock production as economic viability.

The objectives of Program 3 are enhanced poultry welfare and health standards as well as a comprehensive set of environmental management systems, all leading to a sustainable production system that will project the clean and green image of Australian poultry products to the public, both domestically and internationally.

The program is divided into two Sub-Programs (3A and 3B), one focussing on improving poultry welfare, the other dedicated to minimising the impact of poultry production on the environment.
